[Back to Main Page]

On this page, we provide audio examples for the decomposition of the well-known breakbeat “Funky Drummer”. The song "Funky Drummer" was recorded in 1969 by the "James Brown Orchestra" and originally released by King Records as a two-part 45 rpm single in March 1970. The drum break is a very characteristic beat played by James Brown’s band member Clyde Stubblefield, possibly the most sampled drummer in history.
