Congratulations to Soumitro Chakrabarty, Ofer Schwartz and Axel Plinge for receiving Best Paper Awards for their papers presented at the IEEE Workshop on Applications of Signal Processing to Audio and Acoustics (WASPAA). Soumitro Chakrabarty received a Best Student Paper Award for his paper "Broadband DOA estimation using convolutional neural networks trained with noise signals”. This year's Best Paper Award went to Ofer Schwartz, from Bar-Ilan University in Israel, and Axel Plinge for their paper "Blind microphone geometry calibration using one reverberant speech event”, which was written in collaboration with Prof. Sharon Gannot. WASPAA took place from October 15th to 18th 2017 at Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, NY, USA. There were about 160 participants with around 80 original contributions.
